Track 01: Traditional Chinese Medicine

Thousand years ago, ancient China gives birth to Traditional Chinese Medicine. It includes many Body & Mind practices, for example, Acupuncture, Tui-na (Chinese therapeutic massage), Moxibustion (burning an herb above the skin to apply heat to acupuncture points), Qigong (practices that combine specific movements or postures, coordinated breathing, and mental focus), Tai-chi, Chinese herbal medicine and Dietary therapy.

TCM is engrained in the olden thinking of Taoism and dates back more than 2,500 years. Some of the same practices also found in Easter and Southern countries such as Korea and Japan, In Japan, this treatment is known as Kempo. They are having the almost same system, but each has developed individual landscapes of its own.

Acupuncture is the technique whereby inserting thin needles through the skin physicians stimulate specific points on the body. It is one of the techniques used in TCM. Track 03: The Ayurveda: Eight Components

5,000 years ago, in the Vedic culture of India originated the system of natural healing which is known as Ayurveda. The word Ayurveda made up of two Sanskrit words which are Ayush meaning lifespan and Veda meaning knowledge. Ayurveda is not only practiced in India but has got a global accreditation. Tibetan medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Early Greek medicine also involved in many concepts originally described in the classical Ayurvedic medical texts dating back several thousands of years.

Track 05: Chinese Herbology

Chinese Herbology is the traditional Chinese herbal therapy, which includes most of the treatment of various kinds of diseases in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Researchers have shown that effectiveness of traditional Chinese herbal therapy is of poor quality with little or no rigorous sign of effectiveness. For centuries, Chinese herbs have been using in one way or the other to cure illness.

Chinese herbal extracts are herbal decoctions which have been compressed into a granular/powder form. Herbal extracts are easier and more convenient for patients to use. If we look at the industry extraction standard which is in the ratio 5:1, that means for every five pounds of raw materials, one pound of herbal extract is obtained.

Folk medicine has existed for as long as life has existed on earth. It was developed by primitive men’s reactions to natural events. At that Magical Powers and witchery took an important role. They believe that the powers help to cure diseases. Therefore, the ancient societies ideas on disease and health have become folk culture. And because of this reason, practices related to this issue are the realm of anthropology, ethnology, and sociology, while technical analysis falls under the disciplines of medicine and pharmacology.

Track 08: Unani Medicology

Unani medicine is the Perso-Arabic traditional medicine which has been practiced in India, South and Central Asia. The word ‘Yunani’ means "Greek" because the Perso-Arabic system of medicine was purely based on the teachings of the Greek physicians Galen and Hippocrates.

The origin of Unani medicine is still visible based on the 4 humors (systems) which are classified below:

1)      Phlegm (Balgham)

2)      Blood (Dam)

3)      Yellow Bile (Safra)

4)      Black Bile (Sauda)

Unani medicine states that management of any disease completely depends upon the diagnosis of disease. In the diagnosis of any disease, the basic concepts such as signs, symptoms, laboratory features and mizaj (temperament) are significant.

Track 09: Tibetan Medication

Traditional Tibetan medicine (Sowa-Rigpa medicine) is defined in simple terms as the old traditional medical system which practices complex techniques that are used for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of illness. The techniques include pulse analysis and urinalysis which uses medicines composed of natural materials such as herbs and minerals, physical therapies which include the Tibetan acupuncture, moxibustion. This medical system is a combination of the Indian, Persian, Greek, the indigenous Tibetan, and ancient Traditional Chinese Medical systems.

The Four Tantras (Root Tantra, Exegetical Tantra, Instructional Tantra, Subsequent Tantra) are native Tibetan texts that are incorporated in various systems such as Indian, Chinese and Greco-Arab medical systems. The Four Tantras are the basis of Tibetan medical practice. It is the common name for the text of the Secret Tantra Instruction on the Eight Branches, the Immortality Elixir essence.
